A woman has been found not guilty of murder due to insanity, following a stabbing spree in Wellington.

At the High Court in Wellington, the woman, who has name suppression, has been found to be not guilty of murder, assault with a weapon, and three charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

A 67-year-old man died, and four others were wounded during the attack at a Johnsonville house last June.

The woman also assaulted her doctor, believing he was evil and trying to poison her.

The court heard how she was in a psychotic state and suffering from paranoid delusional beliefs.
