Serial trespasser Margaret Dodds has asked to be sent to prison over her latest misdemeanour.
Dodds has pleaded guilty in the Christchurch District Court to one count of unlawful trespass, and in an unusual move her defence counsel Paul Johnson asked that she been sentenced to the maximum of three months in prison.
Johnson told Judge Jane Farish that his client felt harassed by police and believes prison is the only place she would be safe.
Judge Farish says she was unable to sentence Dodds to the maximum stay in prison because of her early plea and instead sentenced her to two months behind bars, with no release conditions.
