A road toll opponent has lost a High Court Appeal against four convictions for refusing to pay the toll on Auckland's Northern Gateway motorway.

While he's found against retired lawyer Hans Grueber, Justice Venning noted that the Transport Agency has not sought an order for costs - and he has therefore made NO such order.

The Transport Agency revealed in June that it had spent almost ten thousand dollars in external legal expenses, responding to Dr Grueber's challenges.
