Police are praising a passer-by who escorted a woman to work after she was indecently assaulted in Hamilton.

The woman was assaulted and pushed into bushes as she walked towards the CBD on Claudelands Bridge at 6.25am.

Detective Senior Sergeant Daryl Smith says they want to speak to the good samaritan to thank him for helping the victim and ask if he saw the offender.

He says the attack could be linked to a similar incident on Opoia Road three weeks ago.
