A post mortem has been carried out on the Indian student who was stabbed to death in Auckland.

Parmita Rani died from injuries she sustained in the attack at the AWI International Education Group.

Ms Rani was a 22-year-old who had been studying in New Zealand since 2013.

Police have been in touch with her family in India after she was formally identified.

A 29 year-old man has appeared in court charged with murder and attempted murder.
