A violent offender with links to the Head Hunters' gang is on the run after he didn't show up at the High Court at Auckland.

Police say 23-year-old George Christopher Pomee is dangerous, possibly armed, and should not be approached.

A warrant is out for his arrest after he failed to appear on a number of charges including kidnapping, aggravated robbery, threatening to kill, and assault with intent to injure.

Police say he has contacts across Auckland, Te Puke, Tauranga and Napier.

He has distinctive tattoos under both eyes and on the lower part of his neck, is of medium build and around 185 centimetres tall.

Anyone who sees him is asked to call 11 immediately - and if you know where he is, you're urged to contact Police.
