Police are appealing for people who went to a party in Christchurch last night to get in touch, after the house it was held at went up in flames.
Emergency services were called around 1:45am, and it was initially feared some people were inside the house.
Police now say nobody was, and there were no injuries.
Witnesses have described seeing people setting off fireworks near the house shortly before the blaze broke out.
Police and fire investigators will continue to look into the cause today, and are appealing for people who were at the party to contact them.
