There's yet another case of an alleged offender cutting off an ankle bracelet, and going on the run.

This time it's a 44 year-old man, who's believed to have cut his bracelet at around 11 last night at a house in south Auckland.

He's been named as Thomas Shortcliffe, who's on bail accused of assault with intent, burglary and kidnapping.

Police say a security guard was dispatched to the address he's meant to be staying at in Papakura, but Shortcliffe assaulted the guard and made off.  They also he has gang connections and links to Northland.
