The Christchurch City Council's being questioned over the multi-million-dollar figure they have quoted to clean up Kyle Park.
The high figure was a deciding factor in choosing Denton Park for a new $35 million Library and Recreation Centre project.
While Kyle Park is the community's preferred option, council said ground conditions at the former landfill site are very poor.
However, Save Denton Park supporter Ross Houliston said while Council tells him it's because the contents of the ground are unknown, he's got records to suggest we know where rubbish is.
"It shows the depth of the rubbish in Kyle Park which Council has told us on a number of occasions they have no record of."
He said well data shows that the area they've suggested for the new centre is rubbish free.
"When I asked the Council for the bore logs for these three wells they said there is none, so I went back to ECan and requested them off ECan and got them."
Ross Houliston will present the new information to the Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board tonight
