The Queen's Baton Relay will take in quake-hit Kaikoura during its six-day tour of New Zealand next week.
Details of the traditional pre-Commonwealth Games relay were unveiled by the New Zealand Olympic Committee on Thursday.
The baton, containing a message from Queen Elizabeth, will tour the country from Monday to Saturday, starting and finishing in Auckland on the latest leg of a 230,000km journey to the Games on the Gold Coast in April.
After a powhiri in Auckland on Monday, the baton will be flown to Queenstown and make its way north, coinciding with a series of events and public visits.
That includes a community event in Kaikoura on Tuesday, just over a year after the quake that severely damaged the Canterbury town.
About 40 past and present New Zealand athletes will be involved at various points of the relay, including Dame Valerie Adams, Sophie Pascoe, Sir John Walker, Val Young and Precious McKenzie.
