It hasn't even been built yet, but a new McDonalds is already being accused of targeting kids.
A school principal wants a new McDonald's coming to his neighbourhood to restrict what it sells to students.
The new franchise will be built in Christchurch's Woolston area, within 700 metres of two primary schools.
St Anne's Principal, Dallas Wichman, said it will be nearly impossible to stop students who walk to school from buying large, cheap frozen cokes.
He says that would give them their entire day's calorie intake in one quick sugar-filled kick.
Mr Wichman said he plans to talk to the owners of the McDonald's when it opens next year.
"I'd say to them is there any way that...the crazy cheap super deals that they have the one, two, three dollar deals are not in the morning preferably."
He said parents can only take so much of the blame, as a kid who walks to school would only need to get hold of a dollar to disobey them.
Mr Wichman said some of the fault lies with the distributor.
"They're causing those prices, it's they're choice to that so in a way I feel it is McDonald's fault for those things.
