Christchurch's rebuild is gathering steam with the official opening of a new landmark building.
The Deloitte building at the corner of Cambridge Terrace and Gloucester Street has been completed.
Developer Stephen Collins says the building is designed to withstand future disasters.
"The whole building actually sits on 19 split pendulum ball bearings so that, in the even t of an earthquake, the building can move up to a metre without having a risk of damaging either the building or anything in it."
The six story building features 1300 glass waves, which cover it from head to toe.
