A Christchurch father and husband has disappeared without a trace, leaving friends and family in shock.
46-year-old Brendon Laughton has not been seen since early Monday morning and a missing person's report was lodged yesterday.
Friends and family are concerned for his mental wellbeing.
They're hoping for sightings of Laughton's car, a brand-new grey Skoda station wagon.
Friend Sarcha Every says the disappearance is very out of character.
"We just don't even know which way to turn. We are fortunate that we are resourceful people, but we are just absolutely flabbergasted."
Shey says they have no clue where he went after leaving his home.
"No, absolutely nothing, and we have pulled so many resources. We have had people out on the ground for the last 35 hours now."
The search is covering most of the city and Port Hills, and Laughton's favourite fishing spots around Hurunui and Banks Peninsula.
Police say that Laughton is possibly wearing a pair of black Reebok sneakers with blue soles and either grey trackpants or baggy jeans. He also may have on a grey or dark coloured hoodie.
