Christchurch isn't there yet but it'll happen eventually.

That from the Earthquake Recovery Minister, who's expecting next year to be a real turning point in Christchurch's recovery.

Gerry Brownlee told Newstalk ZB's Chris Lynch the convention centre and justice precinct are both well on track, but there's still a few kinks to be rolled out.

"Certainly around the library...the metro sports centre. There's a couple of issues that we're just trying to work through there. These things are very big, very expensive."

Minister Brownlee says time spent making sure they've got it right now will be worth it in the long run.
