Last-minute Christmas shoppers spent more than $370 million at the weekend.
Paymark figures show the amount spent equalled more than seven million transactions.
Saturday was the busier day, with shoppers spending around $212 million.
Christmas Eve is still expected to be the busiest trading day of the year.
