Auckland motorways, on ramps and off ramps will be closed at points overnight this week, as roadworks continue across the city.

The Southern Motorway will be closed southbound between Redoubt Road and Takanini tomorrow and Monday nights, and northbound between Takanini and Hill Road on Monday night.

The Northwestern Motorway will be closed in parts between Lincoln Road and Western Springs eastbound, and Western Springs and Te Atatu Road westbound between tomorrow night and Thursday night.

The Southwestern Motorway will be closed southbound between Lambie Drive and State Highway 1 tomorrow and Monday night, and at the State Highway 20 and 20A interchange on Thursday night.

Various on-ramps and off-ramps will also be closed between tomorrow night and Thursday night.

Meanwhile, Wellington motorists are also being warned of night time delays on one of the busiest stretches of road in the region over the next four weeks.

A fresh, durable surface is being added to State Highway One through the Mana Esplanade north of Wellington, between the Paremata and Plimmerton roundabouts.

There will be roadworks on the highway between Acheron Road and the Plimmerton roundabout between tomorrow night and mid-September, between 7pm and 5am Sunday to Thursday.

Works will continue between Pascoe Avenue and the Paremata Bridge, between mid-September and the end of September.

NZTA regional performance manager Mark Owen said the work is being done at night to prevent causing major delays during the day.

He said the agency is grateful to people living near the highway who have put up with noisy overnight work.
