Those opposed to the Port's of Auckland's planned massive extension of the wharf, are not convinced the company will listen to the Auckland Council's decision.

The Council's Development Committee has unanimously decided to fast track the commissioning of a study into the wider impact of the development.

They've also voted to send a letter to the Ports of Auckland strongly urging it to hold off on the port extension until the completion of the study .

Urban Auckland chair Julie Stout says they are going ahead with their High Court action challenging the consent process.

"Nothing substantial has really changed and we're still issuing our requests for a judicial review."

Stout says they will be filing for a judicial review in the High Court today.

"Basically we do not believe that the consents were done properly and they should not go ahead so we're trying to stop those, legally, with this action."
