Architects are urging Auckland Council to stop a wharf extension they say will ruin the city's harbour views.
The council has recently approved Ports of Auckland's plan to extend Bledisloe Wharf nearly 100 metres into the Waitemata Harbour.
The issue's coming before a council committee again today.
Institute of Architects President Pip Cheshire says while the operation of the port is vital to the city's economy, so too is the aesthetic quality of the harbour.
He says the council has it wrong when balancing economic imperatives with other factors affecting the well-being of the city.
