Ankle injury still on Perenara's mind

By: Guy Heveldt | Latest Rugby News | Thursday January 17 2013 6:27

TJ Perenara concedes he wonders when his ankle might break again.

The Hurricanes halfback is back in training after a long recovery from a broken ankle that cut short last year's Super Rugby and the rest of his season.

Perenara says it's been a long road back.

"Quite depressing almost, being out of rugby for so long and having to sit down and watch it, so just to be out on the paddock and just running around with the boys again, it's a good feeling."

He says it's been a battle to get back to where he was.

"Mentally it's probably the hardest thing just knowing in my head that it's been broken before, but I'm slowly starting to come to grips with the fact that it's probably stronger than it was beforehand anyway."

Perenara says he's been able to do a lot of video work while he's been injured so he knows the areas he needs to work on the most.
