Hurricanes team to be named via text, email

The Hurricanes squad members will be eagerly awaiting their text and email from the coaching staff to see if they've made this week's team for their Super Rugby opener against the Blues at Westpac Stadium.

Coach Mark Hammett says there's no formal team naming at the Hurricanes after the players decided last year they liked being informed about the team via text message and email.

Hammett says he struggles with it from his old school perspective but that's what the young players want.

Hammett's pretty sure they won't go as far as Facebook or Twitter.

Meanwhile flanker Ardie Savea has a SANZAR judiciary appointment at 10.00AM, reviewing an alleged dangerous tackle in the match against the Chiefs at the weekend.
