Black Caps beaten

By: Rikki-Jayne Swannell | Latest Cricket News | Saturday March 17 2012 16:09

South Africa has beaten the Black Caps by nine wickets, inside three days of the second cricket test in Hamilton.

Needing just 101 runs to win, Graeme Smith and Hashim Amla eased the Proteas to victory, finishing with 55 and 46 not out respectively.

Earlier, the Black Caps were dismissed for 168, with Kane Williamson providing the only real resistance in making 77.

But when his wicket fell shortly after lunch the Black Caps resolve went with it, as the Proteas wrapped up the tail 30 minutes after the break.

Vernon Philander took six for 44 for South Africa, to give him 10 wickets in the match.

South Africa now leads the series 1-nil with the final test starting in Wellington on Friday.
