Big task for ND despite winning Plunket Shield

Northern Districts have a formidable chase for victory heading into the final day of their final round Plunket Shield domestic cricket match, but already have the title is already in the bag.

They require 422 for victory and are 12/1 in Napier against Central after the hosts declared their second innings at 323/4.

They've already claimed the title after Auckland failed to secure the necessary bonus points in their match against Canterbury at Colin Maiden Park to stay in the hunt.

Auckland's 151/2 in its second innings as they build a target for Canterbury currently sitting at 240 runs.

Otago's set to send long-serving captain Craig Cumming out on a high heading into the final day of their final match of the season against Wellington in Dunedin.

The Firebirds are headed for defeat, sitting at 207/6 in their second innings, trailing Otago's first innings by 200 runs.
