Winds impacting arrivals to New Plymouth

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Lower North Island News | Tuesday February 5 2013 16:04

Strong winds are playing havoc with air traffic into New Plymouth.

Airport Manager Kevin Hill says the wind picked up around lunchtime and is gusting at about 45 knots.

"It's gusting at around about 45 knots and of course (plane model) Q300's can only take something like 34, which is very good, it's just at the moment it's right on their side so most are being diverted to Wanganui and Palmerston North."
