Push for Flavell's gambling bill to be ditched

Several major gambling services are banding together to push for Te Ururoa Flavell's gambling bill to be ditched.

The bill is being supported from the Government after major changes were made to the Gambling Harm Reduction Bill.

Problem Gambling Foundation New Zealand, in conjunction with the Salvation Army and Auckland University's School of Population Health, are all claiming the bill will only make matters worse.

The Foundation's chief executive Graeme Ramsey says the bill does not live up to it's name at all.

"At a later time perhaps, we can have another look at that again and see if we can actually make some real improvements to problem gambling in our community."
