Planned changes to the country's privacy laws appear to be on hold.
Last year Justice Minister Judith Collins indicated the current regime would be overhauled in response to rapidly advancing technological changes.
However, in response to written questions from the Green Party, Ms Collins says the introduction of a new Privacy Bill has been delayed pending the appointment of a new Privacy Commissioner.
Privacy Commissioner Marie Shroff's term ends this year and the agency says it doesn't yet know when her replacement will be announced.
