Labour calling for quicker action on Novopay

By: Dana Kinita | Latest Political News | Sunday January 27 2013 17:06

The Labour Party is calling for the pin to be pulled on Novopay.

Its acting education spokesman Chris Hipkins says the minister now responsible for fixing the Education Ministry's flawed payroll system Steven Joyce has a huge weight of expectation on him to sort it out.

"Simply saying 'oh look it's going to take a long time and we might or might not be able to fix it' isn't good enough. He either needs to get this payroll system fixed and fixed fairly quickly or he needs to be looking at the alternatives and getting something else in place that's actually going to work."

Mr Hipkins says there have been huge systemic problems, which clearly show Novopay should never have been signed off.
