A bill proposing changes to MMP is being seen as a step towards greater democracy.
The Conservative Party is the latest to express its support for Labour MP Iain Lees-Galloway's Members Bill.
The bill would axe coat tailing provisions and reduce the party-vote threshold from five percent to four.
Both New Zealand First and the Green Party have also signaled their approval.
Conservative Party leader Colin Craig says it's a bill that should have been passed many years ago.
"It gives us a better democracy if the actual barrier to entry is a little bit more reasonable than the existing five percent."
