Southlanders have been badly treated - Peters

By: Newstalk ZB staff | New Zealand News | Sunday December 9 2012 7:08

Winston Peters says Southlanders have been badly treated, in a spate of job losses which have ravaged the region.

The New Zealand First leader has told the Southland Economic debate the area is getting a raw deal in Government policy.

He says people who've done so much for the country's wealth, by bringing money in from overseas through exports, have been badly treated.

Mr Peters says Southlanders should be lobbying for legislation which will help them prosper.

He says Southland is getting a raw deal in Government policy.

Mr Peters says the New Zealand dollar should be far closer to 60 US cents, rather than more than 80 US cents as it is now.
