Fears UK flight tax will increase visitor decline

By: Laura Heathcote | New Zealand News | Monday April 2 2012 13:15

Tourism industry groups in Australia and New Zealand fear the latest increase in the UK's flight tax will further accelerate already declining British visitor arrivals.

An ordinary British traveller will now have to pay more than $180 if they want to visit New Zealand.

The Tourism and Transport Forum Australia and Tourism Industry Association New Zealand say it's unfair on Brits wanting to visit both countries.

The number of Brits visiting New Zealand last year was down four percent compared to 2010.
