Kiwis pitch in to clean up Rena's debris

By: Tim Dower | New Zealand News | Saturday April 7 2012 7:29

Holidaymakers have been pitching in to help pick up debris from the Rena.

Cuts of meat washed up on Coromandel beaches yesterday.

And there's other debris including small plastic beads, timber and parts for wheelbarrows spread over a large area.

The heavy seas and strong winds which finally sank the aft section of the vessel and released the latest debris, should ease in the next few days.

The debris is spread over a wide area including Matakana Island, Waihi Beach, Pauanui and Tairua.
