200 job losses in two days

By: Newstalk ZB staff | New Zealand News | Thursday February 14 2013 16:52

Two hundred job losses have been announced in two days - but the Government says it's worldwide trend.

New Zealand Post-owned print and mailing house Datamail is to lay off 100 workers in Auckland, Petone and Christchurch.

It comes a day after Contact Energy announced 100 jobs are to be cut.

Economic Development Minister Steven Joyce says job losses are reverberating around the world.

He says we're seeing growth in some areas and job losses in others, but it's not easy and anyone who suggests we can wave a magic wand and make it go away is dreaming.
