Hillary Clinton hopes the US will have a female president

Hillary Rodham Clinton says she hopes the United States will have a female president in her lifetime because it would send the right historic signal to women and girls as well as men and boys.

The former secretary of state has told a women's conference in Toronto that she'll certainly vote for the right woman to be president.

Clinton has not said whether she will seek the Democratic nomination in 2016.
