An expert says more could have been done to save a baby who died yesterday in Auckland from serious head injuries.Â
A team of 20 investigators is working on a homicide investigation following the death.Â
Last Sunday, the 16-month-old was rushed from central Auckland to Starship Hospital.
The toddler's mother had five older children who were previously removed by Oranga Tamariki.
Victim advocate Ruth Money told the Weekend Collective the child protection service should have offered more support to make sure the toddler was safe.
"Seems like utter madness that we've now got a baby angel. On the surface this looks completely preventable."Â
