Russian President Vladimir Putin has carved up an exhibition ice hockey match, scoring 8 goals in a magnificent feat of athleticism.

Putin, who is known for photo ops featuring absurd displays of manliness, topped his effort in last year's match, where he scored 6.

Previous stunts have included shirtless horseback riding, driving a Formula One racecar, and attaining a black belt in judo. 

His efforts have been compared to those of former North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il, who supposedly shot 11 holes in one during a single round of golf.

Putin's team won the match 18-6.
