A Napier cafe has been criticised for kicking out a family over their angry child.
A local mother told TVNZ she felt like a bad parent after being asked to leave a Taradale cafe due to her child throwing a tantrum.
She says she was trying to calm her child before the manager came over and asked if she could leave. However, the cafe's owner has described the tantrum as a nightmarish that was affecting other patrons.
Parenting expert Angela Cuming told Heather du Plessis-Allan that the cafe is totally in the wrong.
"Absolutely 100 per cent wrong! I think it's absolutely reprehensible. Last time I checked, children are still human."
She says that it is likely a rare outing for a tired mother, and the cafe staff should have helped the mother out instead.
"Offer crayons and colouring-in, don't just ignore them."
