While tax cuts were often referred to as a "sugar hit" during the campaign trail, the likelihood of a "sugar tax" seems unlikely post-election.
Both Judith Collins and Jacinda Ardern ruled out support for a tax on sugary drinks during the final leaders debate before the election.
Obesity ended up being a talking point during the campaign, after comments made by Judith Collins, while funding dentistry was also hotly debated.
Some of these issues could be solved by a sugar tax, but how would it work?
