A hugely positive day for Maori on Super Saturday.

Across the country, a record-breaking 130,002 people got a Covid-19 jab yesterday with 21,000 of them Maori.

Associate Health Minister Peeni Henare told The Weekend Collective while the total number is good, what’s also important is the number of people getting their first jab.

“With the Maori numbers, I can tell you that over half of those numbers were first-time vaccinators, so that's absolutely fantastic, but we still know we’ve got more to go, but we’ll tick the box on yesterday and call it a success.”
