Jean-Jacques Burnel and his bandmates have caused a fair bit of trouble in their time, even being described as hell raisers with a no bulls*t attitude in promotional material for their upcoming tour.

Burnel is bassist for The Stranglers, the punk rock band formed in Guildford, Surrey, England in 1974. They released their first three albums in a crazy 13 months, and over their 45 years they’ve had 24 top 40 songs and 18 top 40 albums.

The Stranglers are heading to New Zealand playing Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland this February. Jean-Jacques Burnell joined Andrew Dickens to discuss the band’s lengthy career and what fans can expect from the tour.
