The wedding photography industry is one industry of love, glamour and complete excess, and generates billions of dollars a year. 

It’s the unlikely subject of the film, China Love, which will be part of the upcoming Documentary Edge International Film Festival.

The film is directed by Australian photographer Olivia Martin McGuire. She first went to China in 2004 where she fell in love with its “pioneering spirit and upbeat pace”.

She now lives in Shanghai with her husband and children. Martin-McGuire spoke with Francesca Rudkin about the film and what she discovered while making it.
