If you want to prepare for the next pandemic, start watching more horror movies!
Research involving 310 volunteers at the University of Chicago has looked into people's movie watching habits and how prepared they felt for the pandemic.Â
They found that fans of movies like Contagion or zombie attack movies were better able to cope and felt more prepared for the realities of life in a pandemic compared to those who steered away from watching this genre of films.
Those who enjoy horror films instead showed psychological resilience but didn’t report high levels of preparedness.
Michelle Dickinson joined Francesca Rudkin to discuss the research.
