Mr Nobody by Catherine Steadman. She did a terrific book last year which I talked about on the show called Something in the Water. She’s actually an actress, probably best known for her role as Lady Mabel Fox in Downton Abbey, and she has a kind of cinematic approach to writing. This is about a man who’ s found washed up on a beach with no memory or knowledge of his name or where he came from; but when a neuropsychiatrist is called in to help, he knows the name she went by before tragedy struck her family and she changed it – and a whole lot more besides.
Saving Missy by Beth Morrey. Missy Carmichael is 79 and she’s old, miserable, not particularly likeable and desperately lonely. Her world changes when she meets new friends which opens up her life in ways she could never have imagined and she’s saved by the people around her. Looking back on a life filled with regrets, Missy discovers it’s never too late to learn how to live.
