Dark Towers : Deutsche Bank, Donald Trump and an Epic tale of Destruction by David Enrich

This is absolutely top notch, first class nonfiction written by the financial editor for the New York Times. It’s about how Deutsche Bank were a conservative, upstanding German Bank (apart from the minor issue when they provided finance to build Auschwitz); and then decided to get into the UK and Wall Street at which point their new executives in those countries ran completely out of control and it’s the most extraordinary account of corporate criminality and greed, and a company with no moral compass whatsoever. To get a foothold in the States, their best option was to do business with Donald Trump whom no other bank would touch. Trump is a relatively minor figure in all this but there are some nice insights. Deutsche had a spate of suicides at their senior executive level and the son of one of those men turned sleuth to find out what had really been going on in the company. It’s wonderful.

Sheerwater by Leah Swann

Fiction, set in Victoria, Australia. A young mother escaping a bad relationship stops to help when a plane crashes beside the highway, and when she comes back to the car her children have gone. This is a story of missing children, fractured relationships and the desperate search for two young kids who mysteriously disappear on their way to their new lives – an excellent thriller.
