A Burning by Megha Majundar.
This is a very good (and timely) story about how after terrorists bomb a train in India and more than 100 people die, social media explodes with commentary and a young woman posts something about it which doesn’t attract any “likes” – so then she updates her post with something much more provocative and is subsequently arrested by the police. There are three main characters, each of them brilliantly portrayed. This was on the list of books to look out for at the start of 2020.
The Swap by Robyn Harding.
An awkward, lonely teenager befriends a glamorous new arrival to the island where she lives, but when that position is usurped by another woman on the island, things start to unravel. The women and their husbands spend a reckless evening together where good judgment and morality are thrown out the window, and then it all goes really bad.
