The Government this week unveiled a mammoth $50 billion budget for its Covid-19 recovery plan in a bid to save almost 140,000 jobs nationwide.
Highlights of the Budget include $3.2 billion extension of the wage subsidy scheme, $1.2 billion railway package. $3 billion infrastructure investment package, $1.6 billion trades and training scheme, and a $400 million targeted tourism support fund.
However, one industry that was left out was the hospitality sector, with the Government declaring that they would be better served by other economic packages rather than their own targetted relief.
There is also $20 billion currently set aside from the budget, sparking claims of a "slush fund" from Opposition MPs.
Newstalk ZB's chief political correspondent Alex Mason joined Andrew Dickens to discuss the budget's finer points.
