More than 30 towns and cities are holding public services at 11am, to mark one hundred years to the minute since the end of World War I.
The commemorations will continue with dozens of concerts and historical re-enactments throughout the day.

She says that’s one thing they have kept in mind when planning the celebrations.
“We’ve added in a very civic response, how the people back home feel about it.”
Davies says that the celebrations in Wellington will include speeches from the Prime Minister and the Governor-General.
