Cat's tongues are well known for their rough, sandpaper-like quality.Â
But it turns out there is more to those tongues than meets their eyes.
Nanogril Michelle Dickinson told Lorna Subritzky that research in six different types of cats tongues has found that they are covered in hollow, hooked spikes made out of keratin.
And those hollow spikes play a key part in keeping cats cool.Â
