Joan Fairhall and Retirement Commissioner Dianne Maxwell talk with Kerre McIvor about her bid to change KiwiSaver legislation for her son with Down syndrome, so he can access his money and retire early.

39-year-old Tim Fairhall wants use his 8000 dollars in KiwiSaver to retire from his Countdown job at Te Atatu in Auckland and visit his brother in Italy.

Under current laws, he can't touch the money until he turns 65, despite the average person with Down syndrome only living until 57.
