As the weather warms up, many of us will be looking to take our first swim outdoors for the summer season.
One New Zealand woman has taken her love of open water swimming to the next level, by swimming outdoors every day for a year - even in the depths of winter.
Annette Lees has documented her year in her new book, Swim. Lees has a degree in ecology and landscape conservation and has spent her career in tropical forest and reef conservation across the world. She now frequently works on water quality issues alongside farmers, communities, conservationists and Government.
Annette Lees joined Kerre McIvor to talk about her love of swimming and the deep connection New Zealanders have for the water.
