Martin Devlin: Why I won't give in to 'Lance'

COMMENT:

One word - Lance.

Next word - No.

I won't watch it, I refuse to be baited into thinking there's anything new about this guy that deserves to be listened to, looked at, bothered with.

What am I talking about?

"Lance". The new two part 30 for 30 doco on ESPN they've been thrashing in the wake of The Last Dance.

Everything about this guy offends me. The fact they've wasted even more money on this oxygen thief defies belief.

Who cares? Honestly, who cares? Who cares what he says, what he thinks, why he thinks it, whatever excuse or reasons that are offered, every word is as irrelevant as everything he never did on a pushbike. This man is a cretin. Every word written, spoken, published, produced is a waste of time, space, column inches & breath.

There is nothing to say other than go away. No-one cares mate. And if they do then they're only sadder than he is. And it isn't even the blatant and systematic drug cheating that I find so offensive, it's him as a human being.

Just a vile piece of crud in every way. And don't even try to convince me otherwise because I won't listen, argue or engage.

I even resent the fact I've spent this much time saying what I've just said.

So what am I saying, is this hate? And if so why would I feel so strongly about someone I'm so adamant I don't care about? Because people in my position have to speak up and speak out. We are obligated to do so.

Every time his name is mentioned, every time there's another attempt to legitimise his story, we have a responsibility to say NO.

I can't say it any more plain to say go away and die. Just like your career and reputation have. There is no such thing as forgive and forget.

Just forget.
