The long drought is over for the Blues.
They're Super Rugby Transtasman champions after toppling the Highlanders 23-15 in the final at Eden Park - their first title in 18 years.Â
Three penalties after halftime put the visitors up by two, before a penalty and a 77th minute try to loose forward Blake Gibson got the Blues over the line.
Blues coach Leon MacDonald says it wasn't easy on the heart.
"It's not easy on the heart. It was a real final, it was real combative, it was physical, with ebbs and flows and a bit of drama. We were thrilled to get there in the end."Â
